After the phenomenal success of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s blockbuster film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, all eyes are on Chapter 2. While the makers have been tight-lipped on any update about the Dominic Arun directorial, online trackers have been claiming that scripting has already started for the upcoming movie, which will have actor Tovino Thomas in the lead. There are also speculations that the movie could go on floors by the end of 2026, with another festive release planned for Lokah 2.
When will Lokah Chapter 2 begin?
Lokah Chapter 2, which will track the story of Chathan (played by Tovino Thomas), is expected to start rolling by the end of 2026, as per online reports. The scripting has reportedly already started for the movie, which is co-written by director Dominic Arun and actress-writer Santhy Balachandran.
Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, with Kalyani and Naslen in the lead roles, released in August 2025 ahead of the Onam festival in Keraa. If everything falls in place, Lokah 2 could also hit theatres for another Onam festival but in 2027, according to the reports. However, neither the director nor the producer Dulquer Salmaan has shared any official update on when making and release plans for one of the most-anticipated upcoming movies from Malayalam.
How many chapters are in the Lokah movie?
Helmed by Dominc Arun, Lokah is planned as a superhero franchise with five chapters. The first chapter was released in 2025, narrating the tale of Chandra aka Neeli. Tovino Thomas had appeared in a cameo role in the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer as Michael, the Chathan (goblin). The second chapter will focus on Michael’s story. Another Chapter will focus on Dulquer Salmaam’s character Charlie, the Odiyan.
The rest of the chapters and their lead characters are yet to be revealed though megastar Mammootty is confirmed to be part of the franchise as Moothon, the elder. Lokah franchise would also be the first film to feature the father-son of Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan on screen.
