Lokesh Kanagaraj's blockbuster film Kaithi becomes Karthi's first film to release in Japan

Kaithi, which was Lokesh Kanagaraj's sophomore project, went on to become a huge hit at the box office apart from receiving rave reviews from critics as well. The two year old film, which had Karthi playing a prisoner who is out on parole to meet his daughter, is now releasing in Japanese language as Kaithi Dilli. 

Interestingly, Dilli is the role essayed by the actor in the movie. With this unusual feat, the action thriller becomes his first release in Japan. Fans of the film and actor are quite excited, and they now have their fingers crossed over the movie's sequel. There was news earlier that the makers might come up with a sequel.  

Kaithi (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), which was a Deepavali release in 2019, was dubbed in Tollywood as Kaidhi and had a simultaneous release in the Telugu states. The posters of the film's Japanese version have been doing the rounds on social media ever since the news was out. Kaithi Dilli is releasing on November 19. 

Tamil films releasing in Japan is not a new thing considering the popularity Rajinikanth enjoys there. His latest movie, Annaatthe, has released there. His last outing Darbar (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), too, had a release there. It was his Muthu (streaming on Netflix, MX Player and YouTube) which made him quite a popular figure among the Japanese movie goers.

Sathyan Sooryan's cinematography, action choreography by Anbariv and Sam CS's background score were a few elements of Kaithi which made the movie a true-blue blockbuster. Narain, Arjun Das, George Maryan and Dheena among others were seen in pivotal roles in the movie which had no songs and a female lead.
