The entertainment sector was hit hard by the persistent rains that pounded Mumbai on May 26, which halted ongoing film shooting and disturbed daily life in the city. Productions impacted included the highly awaited romance movie Love & War by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which is presently shooting at Film City, Goregaon.
As per Mid Day, on Monday, Bhansali, who is renowned for his expansive storytelling and painstaking attention to detail, had scheduled an outside shoot with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal as the major actors. But the crew couldn't move forward with their plans because of the constant rain and waterlogging.
A source close to the production stated to the tabloid that it was a crucial dramatic scene that took place outdoors and called for specific lighting. It became hard to proceed due to waterlogging and unpredictable weather. Neither the aesthetic quality of the scene nor the security of his crew were priorities for Bhansali. It's a unit with 500+ people, and some of them live in remote places. Due to train delays, they were unable to make it to the set.
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the ensemble cast of the forthcoming film, which includes Alia Bhatt (Highway and RRR), Kapoor (Tamasha), and Kaushal (Manmarziyaan and Raman Raghav 2.0). Coordinating the availability of the lead actors for joint shoots has been logistically challenging because of their packed schedules. Instead of risking further time due to frequent delays, Bhansali has decided to suspend the shoot temporarily due to the weather-induced interruption.
The parts of Love & War that Kapoor and Kaushal missed this week didn't require Bhatt's presence. However, they have paused due to the weather. After things settle down later this week, filming will probably pick back up again. The insider further clarified that this temporary stop will not affect the schedule.
Predictions indicate that Mumbai will continue to experience heavy showers, and this break coincides perfectly. Producers have opted for caution rather than risk a rushed shoot because of the importance they place on both cast and crew safety and the quality of the final product.
The team is positive that the film's overall schedule is still on track and intends to continue production once the monsoon situation improves, so they aren't too concerned about the little interruption.
