After a packed October with a flurry of biggies for the festival season, November is giving several small/medium budget films the right window to flourish at the box office. Over half a dozen films released in theatres this week - Maa Oori Polimera 2, Keedaa Cola, Narakasura being the prominent ones. While Polimera 2 won over critics and is clicking with the masses, Keedaa Cola’s working with a niche audience.

Maa Oori Polimera 2, the sequel to the OTT release Maa Oori Polimera, directed by Anil Vishwanath, doesn’t boast star power but has a set of capable performers to hold the fort. Satyam Rajesh, Getup Srinu, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Rakendu Mouli essay key roles in the thriller produced by Gowr Kriesna. The rustic thriller revolving around black magic has begun on a positive note at the box office.

The film, made on a modest budget, has collected Rs 6.6 crore in just under two days, leaving trade pundits in awe. Over 50 screens have been added in the Telugu states and it is expected to have a great Sunday In the popular ticketing platform Book My Show, nearly 70,000 tickets were sold on day 2, hinting at its popularity. Reports indicate it will go past the break-even mark stage today and enter into profit zone.

The story revolves around how a married auto driver Komaraiah mysteriously leaves his village with a woman Kavitha and his brother, Jangaiah, goes missing. Komaraiah’s wife Laxmi has to deal with the brutality of the village heads. Meanwhile, an influential man is after the riches of an abandoned temple in a village. What connects Komaraiah to the temple and his belief in black magic?

Baladitya, Janardhan, Babloo Prithviraj essay other important roles in the film. At a success meet hosted yesterday, the team expressed its gratitude to audiences for the thumping response. Vamsi Nandipati distributed the film in Telugu states. The film is expected to arrive on OTT in the first half of December.
