Maalik: Huma Qureshi reunites with Rajkummar Rao for his crime drama? Here's what to expect

Rajkummar Rao surprised his fans with the announcement of his new film Maalik last year. The actor's first poster was released on social media. Directed by Pulkit, the movie has been backed by Tips Films and Northern Lights Films. Last month, the film's theatrical release date was announced. And now, it has come to light that Huma Qureshi reportedly reunited with Rajkummar Rao for his next, Maalik.

Huma Qureshi's Maalik cameo details

 Huma Qureshi will be apparently seen with Rajkummar Rao in Maalik after Monica, O My Darling. The actress reportedly shot a dance number for the crime drama in 2024. As per a Mid-Day, Qureshi only has a cameo appearance in the movie.

"In the sequence, Rajkummar’s character and his gang get a tip-off that the man they are looking for is at a local bar. They head to the bar for an in-and-out job. That’s where Huma is seen performing. The choreographer has designed it as a raw and earthy dance number, along the lines of Chikni Chameli from Agneepath [2012]," a source told the tabloid.

The report further states that Maalik's story is based on Allahabad and Lucknow. The song was reportedly shot in the set of a bar, which was built. Sachin-Jigar have apparently composed the song and Vijay Ganguly choreographed it. The dance number, starring Huma, is expected to be placed at crucial juncture in the movie.

Maalik release date

Produced by Ramesh Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, Maalik has been scheduled for a theatrical release in June. The Rajkummar Rao-starrer will hit the big screen on June 20, 2025. Tips Films shared a new poster on Instagram with a caption that read: "Poore pradesh aur desh pe RAJ karne aa rahe hain MAALIK! rajkummar_rao in and as Maalik In Cinemas on 20th June, 2025 (sic)." Manushi Chhillar is likely to be a part of this film.
