One of the biggest projects awaiting for release this year is Mari Selvaraj's Pariyerum Perumal. The film stars Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil in the lead. It looks like sharing screen space with Vadivelu has been a longtime dream of the director.

Mari Selvaraj stated at an event he had always wanted to work with Vadivelu and it has been his long-time dream. If there's someone's face that has captured all our hearts and homes, Vadivelu sir's is one. I always wanted him to be part of my stories, and have been trying to include him in my films, right from Pariyerum Perumal. The character was written with him in mind. And if he didn't come on board, the idea was to drop the project altogether. When I broached the same to Udhay sir, he instantly agreed and that made things a lot easier."

The film is said to be the last one of Udhayanidhi Stalin as an actor. After he took charge as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu, the producer, actor and politician bid adieu to the film industry and said that Maamannan would be his last project. Interestingly, Udhayanidhi Stalin's production house Red Giant Movies, is also rolling out the project. "

Mari Selvaraj said that he was under immense pressure while working in Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan. " I worked under tremendous pressure during both films. The stress was self-created, there were no external factors involved. But, I worked in Maamannan in a very relaxed manner and Udhayanidhi Stalin is one of the biggest reasons for the same. I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot of Maamannan. "

Maamannan has AR Rahman scoring the music marking his maiden collaboration with the director. A lot is riding on the film, due to the big names associated with the film. Maamannan is expected to release in the second half of the year.
