The movie, starring Udhayanidhi in the lead, will hit the screens this year

Mari Selvaraj, who impressed movie buffs with Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, surprised one and all when he announced the cast and crew of his third project Maamannan. Udhayanidhi, who is now the Tamil Nadu State Minister fo r Sports and Youth Welfare, was roped in to play the lead in the film and Keerthy Suresh was brought on board to essay the female lead.
What left many astonished was when Mari managed to cast Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in pivotal roles in the movie which has AR Rahman composing music. Udhay announced a few months ago that the film would be his last project as an actor as he is planning to be a full time politician.
Maamannan has been hitting the headlines for the right reasons ever since the fi lm was announced. Though there hasn't been any update on the movie for a while, the film is one of the most-anticipated projects of 2023.
The makers have now come up with an update and it is revealed from the social media page of Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies which has bankrolled the film. They have unveiled a couple of pictures of Vadivelu and Mari from the dubbing session. The former is seen listening to the latter's instructions in the pics.
The Vaigai Puyal, unlike his regular roles, will be seen playing a never-before-seen character in Maamannan. Fans are eager to see the unexplored acting talent of the legendary comedian who returned to acting with Naai Sekar Returns a few months ago.
He had signed a few movies with Lyca Productions and had announced that he will regularly be seen in films henceforth. Director Mari, on the other hand, has started pre production works of his movie with Dhruv Vikram.
