One of the Tamil filmmakers in recent times who turned heads with his debut movie is Mari Selvaraj. His Pariyerum Perumal (streaming on Amazon Video), starring Kathir in the lead, was one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the last decade.

The 2018 released film dealt with caste discrimination that prevails in the society and won praise from critics and the audience for the undiluted portrayal of a few real-life incidents. His sophomore project Karnan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), starring Dhanush, too, spoke about the insensitive treatment meted out to the underprivileged.

His third film Maamannan was wrapped up recently, and the director had taken to his social media page to inform the same. Udhayanidhi and Keerthy Suresh play lead roles in the project which has Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu essaying key roles. AR Rahman is the music composer for the movie which has been produced by Udhay's production house.

Now, Mari has put up a post on social media seeking talented artists for his next film. According to the post, the movie will be set against Tirunelveli backdrop and the makers are in need of actors between the age group 12 to 16 and 35 to 40.

Mari was supposed to do a movie with Dhruv Vikram; sources say that the casting call is for the project which stars Mahaan actor in the lead. The untitled film will have kabaddi as one of the important elements in it. The movie has fans of Vikram and Dhruv pinning big hopes on it.

Though Mahaan brought the much-needed break for the young actor, the film had a direct OTT release, leaving some of his fans disappointed. For now, they have their fingers crossed until a new update comes from Mari.
