Maaran, Anbarivu and more; these Tamil films will have their OTT premiere on Disney+ Hotstar

Taanakkaran

The Vikram Prabhu-starrer has been directed by Tamizh, who shot to fame with the portrayal of a ruthless cop in the recently released Jai Bhim. The movie's plot revolves around the struggles police trainees face in a training camp which is headed by two cut-throat cops.

Lal, Madhusudhan Rao, MS Bhaskar and Anjali Nair play crucial characters in the film which has music by Ghibran, cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and editing by Philomin Raj. Stunner Sam has choreographed action sequences for the project. Taanakkaran was earlier in the news when Vikram Prabhu said he lost 10 kilos to play his role.    

Anbarivu

Directed by Aswin Raam, the commercial potboiler stars Hip Hop Adhi in lead role. The film marks the second collaboration of Adhi and TG Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films after Sivakumarin Sabadham, which released on Disney+ Hotstar recently. Like his previous outings, Adhi himself has composed music for the project.

Madhesh Manickam has cranked the camera for the movie which has editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Kashmira and Shivani Rajashekar play female leads in the film which has Napolean, Asha Sharath and Vidhaarth essaying pivotal roles. Sathya Jyothi Films and Adhi are now working on their continuous project.     

Maaran

In an earlier chat with OTTplay, the makers of Dhanush-starrer Maaran had refuted the speculation which did the rounds regarding the film's direct release on the digital platform. However, going by the latest news, it looks like the action thriller is all set for a premiere on the platform around Pongal festival.

Directed by Karthick Naren, the film stars Dhanush as a daredevil journalist. Malavika Mohanan plays female lead in the movie which has Samuthirakani and Mahendran in key roles. Sharfu, Suhas and Vivek have written the screenplay for the project along with Karthick. Fans of the star are awaiting an official announcement on its release.

Plan Panni Pannanum

Directed by Badri Venkatesh, the rom-com which stars Rio Raj and Ramya Nambeesan in lead roles, was initially supposed to hit the screens before the onslaught of COVID-19. Later, after the theatres in Tamil Nadu were opened in the last week of August, the makers announced that the movie will have a theatrical release on September 24.

However, the project did not release due to certain unforeseen issues. Though the release date is still uncertain, sources say it is only a matter of time until the team announces its OTT premiere. MS Bhaskar, Santhana Bharathi, Robo Shankar and Aadukalam Narain play important characters in the project. 

Idiot

Rambhala's Idiot was initially supposed to hit the screens on September 17. In fact, it was one of the initial Tamil projects which announced its release post the reopening of movie halls. However, the makers backed out from releasing the movie in the last minute. 

Shiva and Nikki Galrani play lead roles in this horror-comedy, a genre which the director has attempted multiple times. Anandraj, Oorvasi, Akshara Gowda, Mayilsamy and Redin Kingsley among others will be seen portraying significant roles in the film which has music by Vikram Selva and cinematography by Raja Bhattacharjee.
