Duniya Vijay’s latest collaboration with director S Narayan, Maarutha, is set to hit theatres on October 31, ahead of which the team revealed a trailer today. While the trailer provides a sneak peek into the plot, it is barely any better than the teaser that had come out a few months ago, which netizens had trolled as being outdated and following routine formula.
After a few random shots of Shreyas Manju and Vijay punching and kicking their way around, there are also a few of the leading lady Brinda Acharya. Nishvika Naidu is there too and she is one of the 63 girls who have gone mysteriously missing – a case that has the police completely clueless, until, of course, Vijay’s character begins investigating. Chances are that Brinda also gets caught up in this racket and Shreyas then teams up with Vijay to find her and bring the culprits to justice.
The trailer, much like the content, has not aged well and feels stale. While the filmmaker was intensely trolled after the teaser, it is unlikely that the narrative will change with the trailer, given that Narayan has repeated several shots from the teaser in the 1 minute 32 second trailer. The film, meanwhile, releases October 31 and will be in a direct clash with director Shashank’s second film with Darling Krishna, Brat. More importantly, the big release of that week is Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara.
Marutha also stars Tara, Sharath Lohithashwa, Chitra Shenoy, Rangayana Raghu, Pramod Shetty, Manju Pavagada, among others.
