Madharaasi director AR Murugadoss reveals runtime of Sivakarthikeyan’s action thriller

Madharaasi is the next big release for Tamil cinema. The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, which is written and directed by filmmaker AR Murugadoss, is scheduled to release in theatres on September 5. Touted to be an action thriller, AR Murugadoss, in a recent interview, revealed the runtime of the film.

Madharaasi runtime revealed:

Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who was last seen in Amaran, will be headlining the upcoming Tamil action thriller film Madharaasi. It will mark his first time working with filmmaker AR Murugadoss who has given hits like Ghajini, Ramana and Thuppakki.

In a recent interview to Galatta Plus channel, AR Murugadoss revealed that the runtime of Madharaasi is close to two hours and 45 minutes. The filmmaker opined about longer runtime of films. "Earlier, audience preferred films under two hours and 20 minutes. But later, with web series and other long interviews coming up, we invest our time for long. Sometimes, we binge watch two-three episodes for couple of hours. Now, audience even watch the rolling credits, post-credit scenes. This is a worldwide phenomenon and now films come up to three hours too," the filmmaker said.

Madharaasi - cast, crew, OTT partner revealed

Madharaasi, which is set to present Sivakarthikeyan in an action avatar, also features Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and others. The film’s plot has not yet been revealed. With Prime Video bagging the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, Madharaasi will release in Hindi as Dil Madharaasi.

Murugadoss, who is also making a return to Tamil cinema with the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, said that Madharaasi will be an entertainer and will contain a warning about certain incidence that might happen at our place. The film features cinematography by Sudeep Elamon and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the film.
