The upcoming movie marks P Sheshadri’s twelfth movie and the first biopic made by him in his 20 years of his journey in the Kannada film industry
The upcoming Kannada biopic of Mahatma Gandhi titled Mohandas is all set to come out this Friday, on October 1. The movie highlights the revolutionary hero’s childhood. It is hugely inspired by the first few pages of Gandhi’s autobiography, ‘A Story of My Experiments with Truth.’
According to an ETimes report, Mohandas captures the childhood days of Mahatma Gandhi before he became a revolutionary hero. It shines light on the events that helped him understand the crux of truth and the importance of non-violence. Ultimately, the story will cover his life spanning from childhood to adolescence which marks a period of seven years. The movie’s goal is to bridge the gap between his views and that of the present generation.
Mohandas will also go on to explain the unwavering truth despite changes that take place from generation to generation. It will also show how Gandhi was enlightened by the two mythological characters and the embodiments of truth, Satya Harishchandra and Shravankumara. In spite of the change in ambience between children of the current lot and that of Gandhi’s, the moral dilemma and his way of dealing with falsehood and vices will very much be prevalent.
Talking about the cast of Mohandas, it features Anant Mahadevan in the role of Karamchand Gandhi, followed by Shruti as Putlibai, Master Param as seven-year-old Gandhi and Master Samarth Hombal as fourteen-year-old Gandhi among others. The movie was scheduled to release on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. After a long delay, it will finally be seeing the light of day on October 1.
