Maidaan teaser - Ajay Devgn embodies iconic coach Syed Abdul Rahim in a glimpse ahead of the trailer release

The countdown for Maidaan has finally begun, and the wait has been very long. It's one of Ajay Devgn's most anticipated films, and many have been waiting for it. The makers dropped a small glimpse of what's in store for the film before unveiling the trailer tomorrow, March 7, 2024.

Ajay Devgn's role as Syed Abdul Rahim

For the uninitiated, Ajay plays the leading role of Syed Abdul Rahim in the film, who was India's football coach between 1952 and 1962. In the video, we see the actor showing off his football playing skills with kids playing on the street while hitting the ball just before a tram passes by.

The legacy of Syed Abdul Rahim and plot summary

The film follows the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, a legendary Indian football coach who brought about a revolution in the sport from 1952 to 1962. The combination of his doggedness, leadership, and vision made him a legendary figure in Indian athletics. It chronicles Rahim's and the Indian football team's struggles, setbacks, and victories as they fight against social norms to become household names throughout the world.

Amit Sharma helms the biographical sports drama Maidaan, which also has Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zed Studios among its producers. Rudranil Ghosh, Gajraj Rao, and Priyamani also feature in the film. A. R. Rahman composed the music. They have finally set the release date for Eid 2024 after experiencing numerous postponements and delays.

Release date and box office clash

Another big-ticket film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, will clash with Maidaan at the box office. Ali Abbas Zafar directs the film, with Prithviraj Sukumaran starring as the main antagonist.

The Eid 2024 weekend promises an exciting showdown on the big screen, marking a rare clash of cinematic giants after a long time.
