Major actor Saiee Manjrekar on being a ‘star kid’: I know I will be under a scanner so I do extra hard work

Major sought to pay tribute to Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the brave martyr who emerged as a hero in the 26/11 terror attacks. The film saw Adivi Sesh essay the role of the martyr, with Saiee Manjrekar, daughter of Mahesh Manjrekar and Medha Manjrekar, starring as Isha. Saiee recently opened up about how her ‘star kid’ status influenced her work.

In conversation with Hindustan Times, the actress revealed that she did not consider it a ‘pressure’ but saw it more as a motivating factor for her to work harder. She said that the only thing she had in mind was to make her father proud. Talking about how Mahesh had done ‘so much good work’, Saiee said that her wish was to keep her father’s ‘head high always’. The actress said that she wanted people to say that she was his daughter ‘with pride’.

Saiee talked about how she never felt any pressure, and that being a ‘star kid’ was not something she needed to ‘tackle’, but accept. She added that she would continue giving her best in the field as well. “I know I will be under a scanner so I do extra hard work!” she said.

The actress said that acting was something she’d always wanted to do, and she was ‘grateful’ to have had her ‘dream debut’ opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3.

Regarding her role in Major, Saiee said she was pleased with the ‘graph’ she got to play in the film. The actress essays the role of Major Unnikrishnan’s love interest, from his school days into adulthood. She said she considered it a ‘privilege’ to essay such an important part.
