Major will see Adivi Sesh essay the role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the Indian army officer who was martyred in the Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008. Sesh recently opened up meeting with the late army officer's parents, while he was developing the upcoming film.

During the launch event of the song Oh Isha, the actor talked about how initially Major Sandeep’s parents were hesitant to speak to the film’s team. Sesh said that although he had tried to pursue the parents’ ‘endlessly’, Major Sandeep’s father used to hang up on him when he first tried to get in touch. Eventually they had to send a girl to try and convince the Major’s father, and the latter agreed to meet up with the makers then.

During Sesh’s meeting with Major Sandeep’s father, the latter had revealed how many Bollywood and Mollywood filmmakers had approached him to discuss telling the Major’s story on screen. Major Sandeep’s father had declined each time as the filmmakers gave the impression that they were trying to do them a favour. “This(Sesh’s film) he felt was a genuine effort from our side to portray his son's story," said the actor.

The actor said that Major Sandeep’s parents had become like a part of their family during the course of filming. Sesh added that although he could be a ‘Major’ off screen, he could definitely try to become their ‘second son’.

In addition to starring, Sesh has also written the film, which was directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Revathi and Murali Sharma also feature in pivotal roles in the film.

Major will be released on June 3 in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.
