Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph's Bollywood directorial could indeed be Shaktimaan, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead. While there were rumours regarding the same, the latest update from Lada Guruden Singh, General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures International Productions in India, more or less confirmed that the project is on.

Singh shared an article denouncing an online publication for providing inaccurate information regarding the project. The media company had announced that Sony was apprehensive about the script's requirement for a Rs 550 crore budget, which is why the superhero movie had been shelved. “Ranveer Singh loved the script and was on board. The team might revisit the film in the near future,” it wrote.

Previous reports, following actor Tovino Thomas's live Instagram video, alluded to this much-awaited project. The actor was seen in the video expressing his joy at his movie 2018 being chosen as India's official Oscar entry. Ranveer Singh, meanwhile, complimented Tovino and mentioned his conversations with Basil regarding the great time the former will have while collaborating with the Minnal Murali director in the comments section.

In addition, Ranveer made the comment, "Who here wants Tovino x Ranveer?" which sparked rumours that the Thallumala star would also star in Shaktimaan.
