Makers of Dhanush's Maaran unveil stills from the action thriller; the release update is awaited

Karthick Naren's action thriller Maaran went on floors earlier this year. The first look of the Dhanush-starrer was revealed by the director himself a few months ago. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead in the project which has Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat and Mahendran essaying important characters.  

There hasn't been any update from the makers about the project for the last few months despite rumours rife that Maaran will have a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar. Sathya Jyothi Films, which is bankrolling the movie, had recently announced that another project of theirs, Anbarivu, is a direct-to-OTT release.

Fans of Dhanush are eagerly waiting for an official confirmation on the same. If the news turns out to be true, this will be the actor's third OTT release after Jagame Thandhiram and Atrangi Re. The makers of Maaran have now surprised movie lovers by releasing a few stills from the project. 

One of the stills features both Dhanush and Malavika dressed in stylish attires while another picture has Dhanush and Smruthi spending fun time with each other. Samuthirakani, who is said to be playing the antagonist in the film, is also seen in a couple of stills. 

Dhanush plays a journalist for the first time in Maaran whereas Samuthirakani essays the role of a crooked politician. Vivek, Sharfu and Suhas have written the movie's script along with Karthick while GV Prakash has composed music.

Vivekanand Santhosham has cranked the camera for the project which has editing by Prasanna GK. Stunt Silva and Vicky have choreographed action sequences for Maaran which has been produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan.
