Fans of Suriya and other movie buffs were over the moon when the news of Jai Bhim emerging numero uno in IMDB's top 250 films, surpassing The Shawshank Redemption (streaming on Netflix), spread like wildfire. The former, produced by the actor's home banner 2D Entertainment Pvt Ltd, received 9.6 rating, outsmarting the latter which has a rating of 9.3.

However, there were many who expressed their disagreement over the same as the Frank Darabont directorial received way too many votes compared to the Gnanvel directorial which started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 2.

The social media handle of the production house has now taken to Twitter to officially announce the rare feat. The tweet read, "#JaiBhim is now the Highest Rated movie on @IMDb - the World's most popular source for movie content. The movie holds the #1 position with a whopping 9.6/10."

The tweet also had the link of the movie's IMDB page attached to it. The actor's previous outing, Soorarai Pottru (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), which was also bankrolled by his production house, features in the list with a rating of 9.1.

Jai Bhim, a courtroom drama, which is inspired by a true incident that happened in Tamil Nadu in the nineties, opened to unanimous positive reviews from critics and audience alike. The performances of Suriya and Lijomol Jose, apart from the production design and other technical aspects, were appreciated by one and all.

The other films that figure in the top five positions in IMDB include The Godfather (streaming on YouTube), The Dark Knight (streaming on Netflix) and The Godfather: Part II (streaming on YouTube).
