Lokah: Who are Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas playing? Makers confirm with new posters

The makers of Malayalam's latest film, Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra, have dropped two new posters today (September 12). These reveal the characters played by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan.

Dulquer Salmaan as Odiyan in Lokah

According to the most recent poster, the young superstar will play Charlie, also known as Odiyan, in Lokah. In the days before electricity prevailed in the Malabar region of Kerala, the Odiyan are said to be shape-shifting magicians who dominated and scared people during nighttime. They are particularly famous for taking on animal like forms for this purpose. Fans have speculated that this entity in the film took the form of a dog and was seen around Neeli, also known as Chandra. 

Social media users have been theorising about Dulquer Salmaan's role as Odiyan in this fantasy thriller for a time now since the film's theatrical release on August 28. The actor's fans and moviegoers will undoubtedly get to know and see more of him in the next installment of this franchise, even though the current chapter hasn't given away much about this character or his relationship to Kathanar and Neeli.

Tovino Thomas as Chathan in Lokah

Tovino is confirmed as Chathan, also known as Michael, by another poster that has been circulated online. This character was depicted in Lokah, displaying his magical abilities in an eccentric manner. In the meantime, the post-credits scene implies that he will have a significant role in the sequel. 

It depicts a person questioning his character since he was involved in the mysterious disappearance of a party of archaeologist who entered an unexplored cave. The person also shows a picture of an incomprehensible being that looks like Tovino. In response, he says that this appearance is shared by almost 300 of his brothers. This has increased anticipation for the follow-up, suggesting that Tovino will portray Chathan in the Dominic Arun directorial. This figure, also known as Chathan Swamy, is a folk deity who is mostly revered as well as feared in several parts of Kerala.
