Malaikottai Vaaliban box office prediction – Mohanlal, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s film to have a Rs 7 crore plus opening?

Mohanlal and Lijo Jose Pellissery, the Malayalam superstar and acclaimed director, joined hands for the first time for the period fantasy film Malaikottai Vaaliban. The much-awaited film, which features the veteran actor in the titular role, has finally hit theatres (January 25, 2024). As per the latest updates, Malaikottai Vaaliban has impressed film fanatics. Mohanlal's fans and the common audience, on the other hand, have mixed reactions to the film.

However, it is now safe to assume that the Mohanlal starrer is gearing up to have an excellent opening at the box office on Day 1 and has all chance to cross the Rs. 7 crore mark, thanks to the massive release across the globe. 

Malaikottai Vaaliban to cross the Rs 7 crore mark on Day 1 at the box office?

As per the recent updates, the magnum opus helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery has already touched the Rs. 4 crore mark just in Kerala with its advance booking sales. Thus, Malaikottai Vaaliban has emerged as the fourth film to register Rs. 4 crore plus advance sales, after Odiyan, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Beast, KGF Chapter 2, and Leo. While considering the rest of India and overseas pre-booking sales, the Mohanlal starrer has all the chances to make more than Rs. 5.2 crore, just from the advance bookings on Day 1.

So, it is clear that Malaikottai Vaaliban is gearing up for a record-breaking opening at the worldwide box office with its Day 1 collection. The period fantasy film has all the chances to cross at least the Rs. 7 crore mark at the worldwide box office with its Day 1 collection. Along with the charted shows, the magnum opus might also get a massive number of extra shows on its release day across Kerala. Even though the overseas collections, especially from Canada, might face a setback owing to cancelled shows, it is not expected to make a huge impact on the Day 1 collection at the worldwide box office.

Malaikottai Vaaliban’s future at the box office

However, we will have to wait to see how the movie is going to perform over its first weekend at the box office, as it has been receiving mixed reviews. While cinema lovers are happy with the signature Lijo Jose Pellissery style of making, Mohanlal's fans and common audiences suggest that Malaikottai Vaaliban is a disappointment.
