Up till last decade Indrans had created a career out of mostly playing comedy roles. However, the actor reinvented himself as a character actor, proving that he can pull off any character with relative ease. His next two releases will see him tackle genres that he hasn’t in his four-decade-old career.
The first of these to drop will be Udal, which is a home invasion survival thriller that also has Dhyan Sreenivasan and Durga Krishna in the lead. The film revolves around a couple who are trapped in a house after another person breaks into it. Indrans plays a veteran character who is visually impaired in only eye in the film, which is directed by Ratheesh Reghunandan.
Udal is set to hit theatres on May 20. Indrans also has another release on the same day with Santosh Sivan’s Jack N’ Jill, which has Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir and Kalidas Jayaram in the lead. Indrans plays a supporting character named Anthrappan in the sci-fi entertainer set against a rural backdrop.
Meanwhile, the actor will be playing the lead in debutant AB Binil’s psycho horror-thriller titled Vamanan. The makers had released the motion poster of the movie on Saturday, which had Indrans’ character flashing a torchlight at a dilapidated house in the middle of a forest while a shadow moved around him. The movie revolves around a home-stay manager and his family, who have to fight for their survival after a mysterious presence threatens their lives.
Indrans, meanwhile, is currently filming for Shafi’s comedy entertainer. The movie also has Sharafudheen playing its lead. The veteran actor is also part of Jayaraj’s segment in the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. Jayaraj’s featurette Swargam Thurakkunna Samayam also has the late actor Nedumudi Venu, Renji Panicker and Surabhi Lakshmi as part of the cast.
