Malayalam cinema has been hogging much attention across the nation in the recent years, and mostly for the right reasons. A fresh set of exciting Malayalam films is hitting the theatres and OTT space this week. After the stellar success of Rekhachithram, Asif Ali returns to the big screen with the drama film Sarkeet. We also have Dileep-starrer Prince and Family in theatres, while Ouseppinte Osiyathu has landed in the OTT space. Thalavan star Asif Ali has joined hands with 1001 Nunakal director Thamar KV for this drama film, which narrates the tale of Malayalis in the Gulf. Asif plays NRK youth Ameer, who is struggling to find a job. Another key character is played by child artiste Orhan. The film narrates a heartwarming tale, highlighting the bond between Ameer and the boy, even while shedding light on the travails of the Malayali diaspora in the Gulf. The poignant Malayalam film deserves to be watched in theatres this weekend.

Fun and comedy moments are guaranteed as Suraj Venjaramoodu has teamed up with Sharaf U Dheen for Padakkalam. The film revolves around a teacher named Ranjith, who tries to prevent another teacher, Shaji, from getting appointed as head of the department at a college. Padakkalam wraps in oodles of comedy with a fair bit of supernatural elements, promising a complete entertainer at the cinemas.

Dileep, still known for movies such as CID Moosa, is back with another entertainer. The actor plays Prince Chakkalakkal, who is yet to find a partner, though he is regarded as an eligible bachelor. Dhyan Sreenivasan, Siddique, Bindu Panicker, and Manju Pillai also appear in other key roles. Binto Stephen has helmed this Malayalam film.

Among the big theatrical releases, Vijayaraghavan's Ouseppinte Osiyathu will also be arriving on two platforms this week. Though the film is already available on Prime Video, it is on rent. Dileesh Pothan, Hemanth Menon, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Zarin Shihab and Kani Kusruti also feature in this film, which narrates the tale of an elderly man and his three sons.
