The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) abruptly cancelled its yearly event, Mollywood Magic, which was scheduled to take place in Qatar. The event was first scheduled to take place at Stadium 974 in Qatar on March 7.

The cancellation, according to the organisers, was caused by problems with artistes' visas. They disclosed that the weather and technical difficulties were additional factors in this decision.

But for this programme, a number of artists had already come to the country. After finishing the third schedule of his upcoming film L2 Empuraan in the USA, Mohanlal made his way to the Gulf nation. Actors Arjun Ashokan, Dileep, and Mammootty also reached Qatar in the meantime.

Actresses including Krishna Prabha, Priya P Warrier, Anarkali Marikar, Sshivada, and Swasika had also arrived at the venue and were getting ready for their roles in the event. Videos from their practice sessions were posted on a number of social media sites.

Organisers of the event, Nine One Events, confirmed that all those who have purchased the tickets for Mollywood Magic will receive a refund. They have not stated whether or not there has been a rescheduling for the programme. Kerala Film Producers Association was associated in organising this event, along with Nine One Events.
