Fahadh Faasil-starrer Malayankunju, which hit the screens on July 22, was his first theatrical release in Malayalam in the pandemic era. The movie helmed by Sajimon Prabhakar and written by Mahesh Narayanan released amid huge expectations and opened to positive reviews from critics.

Rajisha Vijayan, Indrans, Johny Antony and Jaffer Idukki play pivotal characters in the film which is a survival thriller. The performance of Fahadh and technical aspects of the movie had garnered appreciation from movie buffs. The project is now set for its OTT premiere.

What's Malayankunju about?

The movie revolves around Ani, an electrical technician, who is yet to come to terms with the death of his father. The latter committed suicide after his daughter eloped with a man belonging to a different caste on her wedding eve.

Ani, who is in no mood to forgive his sister, becomes the victim of a landslide after which he gets trapped under debris along with a little girl from his neighborhood. He undergoes various behavioral changes after facing the wrath of nature. How Ani goes on to become a compassionate man forms the rest of the story.  

When and where to watch Malayankunju online?

The film is dropping on Amazon Prime Video on August 11. One of the prime highlights of Malayankunju was the terrific background score by AR Rahman. The movie also marked the return of the veteran musician to the Malayalam film industry after three decades.

The film is Fahadh's fourth release on the digital platform after CU Soon, Joji and Malik, among which the first two of them were direct-to-OTT releases. Fahadh had revealed before the movie's release that Malayankunju was one of the toughest projects he has been part of till date.
