Mammootty hails Indrans: His performances now put many actors to shame

Malayalam actor Indrans was a comedy character in most of the films he appeared in during the 1990s, often ridiculed for his skinny appearance. But the actor turned around his filmography over the past several years, becoming a noted character actor. His transformation on screen has got a huge shoutout from veteran actor Mammootty, who has hailed Aashaan actor Indrans, stating that his performances now put many actors to shame.
What Mammootty said about Indrans
Indrans plays the lead role in the upcoming movie Aashaan, which had its trailer launch recently with Mammootty in attendance. Praising Indrans and comparing his earlier performances, Mammootty said, “During his earlier films, the roles were a kind of body shaming. It was those times. But now he is putting other actors to shame with his performance. What was earlier considered his shortcomings have now become his qualities.”
Mammootty also specially cited Indrans’ performance in two recent movies Jaladhara Pumpset Since 1962, which also stars noted actress Urvashi, and Kuttante Shinigami, also featuring Jaffer Idukki.
Speaking about Kuttante Shinigami, Mammootty said that Indrans performance would leave viewers in awe.
“How has he performed. I was stunned. You will not believe such a person has played Kaalan (Lord Yama) that too wearing suit and a suitcase with two slippers. Wonderful. That is also a good film,” remarked Mammootty, who has won the state best actor award seven times.
Mammootty also launched the trailer of Aashaan, which showed that the upcoming movie would revolve around the titular character and a film shooting. Mammootty, who was last seen in the thriller Kalamkaval, had also praised the movie’s concept and the performance of the actors.
When is Aashaan releasing
Indrans’ upcoming film Aashaan will release in theatres on February 5. The Johnpaul George-directed film also features Joemon Jyothir.
Other Malayalam films releasing the coming Friday are actress Bhavana’s film Anomie and Jayaram-Kalidas’ Ashakal Aayiram.
