Mammootty fans will have enough reasons to celebrate this week. The megastar took to his social media to announce updates on his OTT debut Puzhu as well as his ongoing project, helmed by Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha director Nisam Basheer.
While the trailer of Puzhu is set to be released on May 1 at 5am, the actor will be sharing the first look poster of his upcoming thriller on May 2. The latter also marks his second production under the banner Mammootty Kampany after Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
The yet-to-be-titled film, which marks Nisam’s second directorial, is a thriller with a unique concept. In an earlier chat with OTTplay, the director told us that he had approached Mammootty with the film during the pandemic. “He liked it and greenlit it immediately,” said Nisam. The film is scripted by Iblis and Adventures of Omanakuttan writer Samir Abdul.
While there are reports that Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam could be a direct-to-OTT release like Mammootty’s Puzhu, which is set to drop on Sony LIV later this month, Nisam said that the ongoing movie is made with the theatrical audience in mind.
Apart from Mammootty, the movie, which went on floors on March 25 in Chalakudy, also has Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker and Kottayam Nazeer in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Mammootty is all set for the release on CBI 5: The Brain on May 1. The film marks his second theatrical release this year after the blockbuster Bheeshma Parvam, which went on to be the megastar’s highest grossing movie ever. Mammootty reprises the role of CBI Sethurama Iyer in the film, which also has Mukesh, Jagathy Sreekumar, Asha Sharath, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan and Anoop Menon in pivotal characters.
The megastar has also completed shooting for his Telugu movie Agent, which is directed by Surender Reddy and has Akhil Akkineni in the lead.
