The announcement, which made its way onto the streaming service's website, puts an end to months of guesswork regarding the release date of Yash Raj Films' (YRF) inaugural supernatural crime series.
Haunting hill town and ritual crimes set the tone
The six-part drama is set in the fog‑shrouded hill town of Charandaspur and was created by Gopi Puthran (Mardaani 2) and co-directed with Manan Rawat. A centuries-old secret society implicates Detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh in a series of ritual killings. As the number of casualties increases, allegiances become more ambiguous due to prophecies, coded mandalas, and contentious folklore.
In her long-form debut, Kapoor stars as Rea Thomas, while Vikram Singh, played by Vaibhav Raj Gupta, is meticulous. The secret antagonist role that Surveen Chawla plays is crucial.
Aditya Chopra, Uday Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani are the executive producers under YRF Entertainment. Sandeep Yadav and Shaz Mohammed work on cinematography, and Mitesh Soni and Meghna Manchanda Sen are in charge of editing.
Filming wrapped with final touches in early 2025
Principal photography ended in February 2025; the set went back to Madh Island in Mumbai to shoot some further sequences. According to those in the know, the weeklong routine was all about "fine-tuning" in preparation for final post-production, which aimed to increase suspense and tighten exposition.
The multi-title agreement between YRF and Netflix will bring forth Mandala Murders as the next instalment, having already produced The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj, and Vijay 69.
