Ajay Bhupathi is one filmmaker who gained instant fame with his debut release RX 100 and never had a reason to look back later. Though his Maha Samudram failed at the box office, his abilities as a technician were hailed. He is back with another rustic thriller Mangalavaaram featuring RX 100 actress Payal Rajput in the lead. Ajaneesh Lokanath scored the music for the film which hits screens today.
Confident about the film, the makers organised pre-release premieres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday - all of the 21 shows opened to housefull crowds, indicating the anticipation for the film. Swathi Reddy Gunupati and Suresh Varma M of Mudhra Media Works and A Creative Works jointly produced the thriller. The film has opened to encouraging responses from film buffs after the premieres.
The viewers are particularly happy about Payal Rajput’s performance, calling it a career-defining act that’ll ensure a blockbuster at the box office. While a few opined that the second half could have been trimmed, they’re still in awe of Ajay Bhupathi’s unconventional filmmaking style. The storytelling is reportedly one of its assets and there are enough twists and turns to keep the viewer invested.
The story unfolds in a village where a series of eerie murders every Tuesday triggers fear among residents. A cop is out to investigate the scenario, after which she comes to know of a village belle Shailu and her love story with a teacher. Her failed romance has a connection with the killings, but there’s a twist in the tale. Will the cop find answers to the case? You need to watch Mangalavaaram to know more.
Ajaneesh Lokanath’s music, which worked well with Telugu viewers in Virupaksha and Kantara, is believed to be another major highlight of the film. The cast also comprises Nandita Swetha, Divya Pillai, Ajmal Amir, Ravindra Vijay, Krishna Chaitanya, Ajay Gosh, Shravan Reddy and Srithej. Sivendra Dasaradhi cranked the camera.
