The release of Ponniyin Selvan is less than 50 days away. A single from the movie was released by the makers recently to generate hype for the biggest project Mani Ratnam has ever made. Now, the team has come up with another announcement, leaving Tamil film lovers excited.
The multi-starrer flick which has been bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions will be released in IMAX format as well. The team has made the announcement on social media with a new poster and a caption which reads, "Grand gets Grander! Experience #PS1 in IMAX, the first Tamil film to come out in IMAX! In theatres on 30th September! (sic)."
Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi play lead roles in the movie which will be released in two installments. The makers are yet to announce the release date of the second part. Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Rahman, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vikram Prabhu will be seen essaying crucial characters in the movie.
AR Rahman has composed music for the film which has cinematography by Ravi Varman, production design by Thota Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
Ponniyin Selvan will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on September 30. The mammoth project is Mani Ratnam's return to direction after almost a four-year hiatus. The film marks the maverick filmmaker's second movie with Vikram, Karthi and Trisha.
Aishwarya Rai has collaborated with him for a few projects including her debut, while this is the first time Jayam Ravi has worked with the director. Kollywood movie buffs hope that the film will turn out to create a benchmark like how Baahubali created a sensation in Tollywood.
