They dropped a glimpse of Vanthithayan from the second instalment of the upcoming magnum opus and captioned it, "The charismatic #Vanthiyathevan is marching towards his battle for justice and love! #PS2Trailer from 29th March! The audio launch of the film is all set to happen on March 29 in Chennai. The film's music composer AR Rahman had recently shared a BTS video of the recording of the album and revealed that the second instalment will have seven songs in it. The first single from the film, Aga Naga, is a romantic track between Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai (Trisha) and Vanthiyathevan (Karthi). The actors have requested fans to come up with their own covers of the melodious number. Karthi had asked men to send their covers as well and had announced a surprise for the winners.

The second instalment will have Chiyaan Vikram reprising his character as the Chola Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan, Trisha as Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini Devi, the queen of Pazhuvoor. The plot revolves around the battle for the Chola crown even as a massive threat looms over the kingdom.
The cinematography for Ponniyin Selvan 2 is by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and art direction by Thota Tharani. Ponniyin Selvan is jointly bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca productions. With just a month to go for the film's release, the team has begun the promotions in full swing.
