Malayalam film Manjummel Boys has taken the box office by storm. The film, has not only been well-received by its home state Kerala, but also across south India, especially Tamil Nadu. Manjummel Boys, which has a strong connection to the Tamil industry for its homage and usage of Gunaa reference and iconic song Kanmani Anbodu, has been the talk and the latest to praise the film is filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Ever since its release, Manjummel Boys has been loaded with appreciation from film personalities and public across states. In the latest to shower love for the film is filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon. In a social media post, the director called Manjummel Boys a "theatrical high experience film" and a "connect to the magic that cinema is". Gautham Menon also praised the well-made film and added, "When ‘manidhar unarndhu kolla’ comes up on the soundtrack, somehow watching Guna on opening day so many years ago and many times after that made sense to me."

It is to be noted that Gautham Menon is also an ardent fan of Kamal Haasan and has worked with the multi-faceted actor in the 2006 action drama Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Manjummel Boys makes a striking homage to the 1991 Kamal Haasan-starrer film Gunaa. The film follows a group of men who visit Kodaikanal caves (known as Gunaa Caves) and one of them falls inside a deep pit, making others strive their best to help their friend.

Manjummel Boys becomes a hit in Tamil Nadu

With its strong word of mouth and apt usage of Kanmani Anbodu song in the film, Manjummel Boys has collected over Rs 21 crore at the box office in Tamil Nadu alone, putting other Tamil films like Lal Salaam to rest. More screens are being added to the film in the state. Manjummel Boys is written and directed by Chidambaram and stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, and George Mariyan among others in lead roles. Recently, the film team had met Kamal Haasan who showered them with praise.
