Mardaani 3: Makers of Rani Mukerji's action thriller in search of strong villain; Here's when shoot will begin

Mardaani 3 is the third installment of Yash Raj Films' Mardaani franchise. Rani Mukerji is all set to reprise her role as a tough cop in the film. The announcement for the third part was made in 2024. The makers are currently working on pre-production and conducting look tests for key characters. A new report revealed more details about the shooting and villain's role of Mardaani 3. 

Villain in Mardaani 3

Mid-Day has reported that the Mardaani 3 team is looking for an actor for the villain role opposite Rani Mukerji. The director is planning to call action on the cop caper by June. The team at Yash Raj Films is working on the pre-production while the screenplay and look tests are underway. 

Auditions are underway to bring in new talent and find a strong villain. Additionally, the production team has locked down the initial shooting locations. Some portions will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi. Over the next few weeks, the team will finalize a few North India locations.

In December 2024, YRF took to Instagram and shared the announcement of Mardaani 3. They revealed that Rani's Mardaani 3 will hit theatres in 2026. 

Their post read, "The wait is over! #RaniMukerji is back as the fierce Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. In cinemas 2026."

In 2024, Rani Mukerji announced the film and said, “When we set out to make Mardaani 3, we were hoping that we find a script that would take the experience of watching a Mardaani franchise film higher. I am really excited about what we have at hand and I’m only hoping that the audience too feels the same after watching Mardaani 3 in theatres!"

Rani further added that Mardaani is an extremely loved franchise and they have a certain responsibility to deliver to the expectation that people have. She also promised that they will do their best to live up to this. 

"Mardaani 3 is dark, deadly and brutal. So, I’m intrigued to find out the response of the people towards our film. I hope they shower this film with the same amount of love that they have always given," she said.

Meanwhile, Mardaani 3 will be directed by Abhiraj Minawala.
