The second season of MasterChef India Tamil is set to premiere on SonyLIV soon.

SonyLIV on Monday confirmed the premiere date of the second season of the popular competitive cooking show MasterChef India Tamil. The new season will debut on its platform on January 22.
The first season of MasterChef India Tamil went on air on Sun TV in 2021. Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi, who is a self-confessed food lover, played the main host of the reality TV show that tested the culinary talents of its contestants at multiple levels. The first season had professional chefs such as Harish Rao, Aarthi Sampath and Koushik Shankar playing the jury, critiquing and nurturing the aspiring chefs. The season ended after airing 30 episodes spanning four months.
All episodes of the first season of MasterChef India Tamil are streaming on SUN NXT and OTTplay Premium.
However, it took a while for the showrunners to revive the second season. The upcoming season was announced in 2023 with SonyLIV as the streaming partner. Only Koushik Shankar, from season one, will be returning to jury duty for the second season. He will be joined by Rakesh Raghunathan and Shreeya Adka. The trio was introduced during an episode of MasterChef India Hindi last year.
Judging from the teaser that was released earlier, unlike the previous season, the upcoming edition will not have a celebrity host. The three chefs will play the host and jury. As per the show's tradition, the contestants were selected following auditions last year in Chennai and Coimbatore.
The selected contestants will face challenges, eliminations, and mentorship from professional chefs. Contestants will showcase their culinary skills, creativity, and ability to handle various cooking challenges. The show is expected to celebrate Tamil cuisine, flavours, and cooking techniques, providing a platform for talented home cooks to compete and showcase their expertise.
