The gangster drama Mathagam, which was dropped on Hotstar in August, ended with a cliffhanger. It revolves around a smart cop who sets out to nab a dangerous gang with his team. However, the series culminated when the real face-off was set to commence.

Prasath Murugesan's making was impressive and a few scenes stood out. Atharvaa and Manikandan played lead roles in the project which has Gautham Menon, Dhivyadharshini, Ilavarasu, Nikhila Vimal and Dilnaz Irani essaying notable characters. A few actors' characterizations felt incomplete, but we hope it will be addressed in the sequel.
The sequel to Mathagam to be out on THIS date
The makers released a promo of the second part recently but didn't reveal its release date. They have now announced that the sequel will be out on the OTT platform on October 12. It isn't sure if there is another part to the project.
The team had wrapped up shooting for both parts much earlier and decided to release the first and the second part in a span of two months. The series will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi.
Mathagam marked Atharvaa's first outing in 2023
The series is the actor's first release this year and the second digital project in his career after Navarasa which was released in 2021. Nirangal Moondru, Thanal and Address are his upcoming projects. On the other hand, Manikandan has had the acclaimed movie Good Night and Telugu series Shaitan this year. Interestingly, all the three are available on Hotstar.
Edwin Sakay has cranked the camera for Mathagam franchise while Darbuka Siva and Praveen Antony have handled music and editing respectively.
