Movie buffs were intrigued when the makers of Mathagam announced that they are coming up with an action drama that has Atharvaa and Manikandan playing lead roles. Prasath Murugesan directed the series, the first part of which was dropped in August.

It opened to mixed responses from critics and cinephiles, thanks to the screenplay which went downhill after the initial two episodes. The five-episode series has Dhivyadharshini, Gautham Menon, Nikhila Vimal, Ilavarasu and Dilnaz Irani among others essaying crucial characters. Though a few sequences stood out due to the compelling performances from some of the actors, it lacked a punch.

Mathagam Part 2 is set for release

The makers have now announced their plans for the release of its sequel. Mathagam Part 2 will drop on Disney+ Hotstar, the same platform on which the first part was released. The sudden announcement has left the audience surprised.

Many were of the assumption that the team would begin shooting for the sequel after the release of the first part. It looks like they had wrapped up the entire portions much before. They are now eager to know if there will be a Part 3.

The cat-and-mouse game to begin

The first part of Mathagam ended with the characters of Atharvaa and Manikandan, a cop and a gangster respectively, getting ready for a clash. Both sides are equipped with heavily armed people and the destruction that is likely to cause is beyond imagination.

However, the former faces a few challenges from his superior officers. He is asked to abort the operation in nabbing the gangsters. However, he doesn't want to give up. How is he going to handle the situation?
