Miss Polishetty Mr Polishetty was undoubtedly one of the biggest surprise hits in Telugu cinema after the love triangle Baby. Tackling a tricky topic with emotional depth and a pinch of humour, the dramedy won many hearts upon its release in Telugu states and enjoyed a fantastic run in the US. Naveen Polishetty was paired opposite Anushka Shetty in the film written and produced by P Mahesh Babu.
Vamsi and Pramod of UV Creations produced the light-hearted entertainer. The makers received huge criticism for postponing the film’s release regularly and for the choice of its arrival on September 7. Many felt that its clash alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan would limit its potential at the box office. The film proved all its detractors wrong and enjoyed a good four-week theatrical run.
After impressing critics and raking in the moolah, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty is now out on OTT. Leading streamer Netflix bagged the post-theatrical rights of the film and decided to premiere it on October 5, Thursday. Jayasudha, Murali Sharma, Abhinav Gomatam essayed other key roles in the film which had two composers - Radhan (for the songs) and Gopi Sundar (for the background score).
The story revolves around Anvita Shetty, a chef who is reluctant about marriage. It’s her mother’s last wish to get her married, which motivates her to have kids without tying the knot. In the form of a struggling standup comedian Siddhu, she finds a sperm donor and Anvita is quite excited about the idea of embracing motherhood. However, they gradually find themselves liking one another.
The film is available on Netflix in four languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty marked Anushka’s return to feature films after a five-year-long sabbatical and it was also the third consecutive hit for Naveen Polishetty after Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya and Jathi Ratnalu.
