Akshay Kumar's new film, Mission Raniganj, has been released in theatres. The movie clashed with Bhumi Pednekar's Thank You For Coming at the box office. Helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the film opened to a good response from the critics as well as the audience.
Weeks before its theatrical release, the title of Kumar-starrer was changed to Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue. Earlier, it was titled Mission Raniganj: The Great India Rescue. In a recent interview, Akshay spoke about the changes made to his movie's title.
Akshay Kumar on Mission Raniganj's title change
In an interview with News18, Khiladi Kumar was asked to reveal the reason behind altering Mission Raniganj's title. To this, the actor said, "Is there anything wrong if we changed it to Bharat? No, right. So just enjoy it."
Further, when he was probed that even India isn't wrong, Akshay added, "I agree India is not wrong and is also right. Bharat is a great name and it is in our constitution so we decided to change it."
About the film
Akshay's film revolves around the storyline of a mining engineer, Jaswant Singh Gill, who helped rescue 65 miners from a coal mine in Raniganj. The real-life incident happened in West Bengal in 1989. This project also features Parineeti Chopra.
What's next for Kumar?
On the work front, Akshay has several exciting projects lined up in the pipeline. He has Sky Force slated for release on October 2, 2024. The actor will also be seen in the Hindi remake of Suriya's Soorarai Pottru with Radhika Madan.
His other projects include Welcome To The Jungle, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Singham Again, and more. Apart from that, Akshay has reunited with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty for the third installment of Hera Pheri.
