Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, the popular actor-director duo teamed up for the first time in 2013, for the iconic film Drishyam. The duo later planned to reunite for Ram, the realistic action-thriller which originally started rolling in 2020. The project was however delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic, lockdowns, and financial issues. Even though earlier it was reported that Mohanlal’s Ram might hit the theatres in December 2024, the recent updates suggest that the project is delayed again.
Earlier, it was reported that Ram will go on floors in August 2024, after a very long delay. Director Jeethu Joseph, who confirmed the updates, also revealed that they expected to wrap up the entire filming in a month. According to the sources close to the project, the makers planned to release the highly anticipated Mohanlal starrer in December 2024, as a Christmas special release. However, recent reports suggest that Ram Part 1 will not be released this year as planned.
The further delays in the shooting and post-production works of the Jeethu Joseph film are the reason behind this. However, the cine-goers, especially the Mohanlal fans are highly upset about this indefinite delay in the superstar-led project and are expressing the same on social media. Meanwhile, the reports suggest that the makers are planning to release the long-delayed project by the first quarter of 2024. An official update on the same is expected to be out soon.
Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that L360, the untitled upcoming 360th film of Mohanlal, might join the Christmas race as Ram has been pushed to next year. Even though the Tharun Moorthy directorial was supposed to hit the theatres during the Ayudha Pooja season of 2024, the makers reportedly decided to push the film to Christmas, to avoid a heavy clash with the other South Indian biggies. Mohanlal and Shobana, the lead pair, are expected to resume the next schedule of the L360 shoot by the beginning of August.
