Actor Mohanlal mentioned that his busy schedule of filming in foreign locations and frequent travels kept him from watching many movies. He was speaking in an interview with Movie Man Broadcasting as part of the promotion of his upcoming film, Neru. The actor went on to say that this year he could only watch Joaquin Phoenix's Napoleon and Rajnikanth's Jailer. Mohanlal had played a cameo role in Jailer.
"I had also seen Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, starring Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran. This year, I spent most of my time traveling and shooting in different places. I returned from Switzerland a few days ago after shooting for a Telugu film,” he said.
The Drishyam actor also mentioned that Malayalam cinema has changed significantly over the years, giving artists and films greater opportunities to be seen by a wider audience.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude for being referred to as Lalettan. "Every age group refers to me in the same way. I have always been happy to be called Lalettan," he continued.
Jeethu Joseph’s Neru
Mohanlal depicted Jeethu Joseph's Neru as a journey in search of justice. He said, "I hope the audience will enjoy discovering the truth with us." The actor plays Vijayamohan, a perceptive but vulnerable lawyer due to his circumstances, in the film.
The courtroom drama will premiere on big screens on December 21 and, following its theatrical run, be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Priyamani, Jagadish, Sidhique, Santhi Mayadevi, Ganesh Kumar, and Anaswara Rajan will also be playing important roles in Neru.
Mohanlal’s upcoming films
The actor has a line-up of highly anticipated films, such as Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Valiban and Ram, in 2024. Jeethu Joseph is directing Ram, which was expected to release this year.
