Mohanlal is gearing up to make his directorial debut with the upcoming 3D fantasy film Barroz. The movie, which features the Malayalam superstar himself in the titular role, has been under production for the last couple of years. As reported earlier, Barroz is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on March 28, 2024. Interestingly, sources close to the Mohanlal directorial have now dropped some exciting updates on the film’s duration and fans' shows.

Barroz to have a duration of less than 2 hours

Interestingly, the ambitious project of Mohanlal is quite different from the standard Indian feature films in almost every aspect. If the recent updates are to be believed, Barroz has a duration of less than 2 hours, which would make it one of the shortest films in the career of the Malayalam superstar. The movie, which is touted to be a completely experimental project, is expected to be a unique cinematic experience for Malayalam audiences.

Barroz fans' show timings are out

Just like most of the star-led films that hit theatres in recent times, Barroz is also set to have state-wide fans' shows on its release day, March 28, 2024. As per the recent updates, it has been confirmed that the fan show of the Mohanlal directorial will begin at 8 a.m. on its release day in all centres. The theatre charting for the same has reportedly begun in all major releasing centres today.

All about Barroz

The 3D fantasy film was officially launched in 2021 at a grand event held in Kochi and attended by some of the biggest names in the Malayalam film industry. However, the production of Barroz was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple lockdowns. It also resulted in the exit of many cast members, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was supposed to play a pivotal role.

Later, Jijo Punnoose, who penned the story of Barroz, also walked out of the project, citing creative differences with Mohanlal. Kalavoor Ravikumar later replaced him as the writer of the project. The cast and crew eventually wrapped up the shooting of the film in March 2023. The post-production works of Barroz, which is a VFX-heavy film made in 3D format, are now nearing completion. The project is bankrolled by Aashirvad Cinemas.
