Major Ravi announced his latest film, Pahalgam, on November 9, 2025, but what followed was a barrage of attacks against the actor-filmmaker, that too led by Mohanlal fans. The upcoming movie, Pahalgam, based on Operation Sindoor, was officially launched with a pooja ceremony on Sunday. Though the lead actor is yet to be announced, rumours hint that Mohanlal could headline the project, marking yet another collaboration of the Malayalam superstar with his Keerthi Chakra director. However, the announcement has riled up Mohanlal fans who have urged the Malayalam superstar not to act in the ‘half-baked’ project, saying that he should make better script choices. The upcoming film is expected to delve into the recent Pahalgam Attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.

While some comments brutally trolled Major Ravi, certain netizens said the filmmaker can continue to make films but not to collaborate with Mohanlal again, giving suggestions such as Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.

Mohanlal was also in talks to do a film with noted filmmaker Krishand, but there has been no official update on the project. With Pahalgam film launched, some fans sought to know on Reddit whether Mohanlal chose Major Ravi’s project over Krishand’s film.

One of the reasons for Lalettan fans’ ire towards Major Ravi is that he made some comments after Mohanlal-led L2 Empuraan was engulfed in controversies with the right-wing section objecting to certain scenes and characters in the film. They believe Mohanlal got further mired in controversies after the filmmaker claimed that the superstar had not seen the entire film before release.

Mohanlal had not publicly responded to Major Ravi’s statements about the film, which was helmed by actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran. Not just this, Maor Ravi had further made belittling comments against the fans during a recent interview.

Major Ravi first collaborated with Mohanlal for the 2006 film Keerthi Chakra, where the superstar played Major Mahadevan. They again collaborated in films, such as Kurukshetra, Kandahar and 1971: Beyond Borders, all with a military background. 

On the other hand, Mohanlal is currently hosting the Grand Finale of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7.
