Actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan’s long-time dream of directing Mohanlal could come true, if all plans fall in place. And what’s more, the movie could also feature his long-time collaborator Nivin Pauly in a lead role.

While there have been several rumours of Vineeth scripting a movie with Mohanlal in the lead, the filmmaker has neither confirmed nor denied it. His staple reply has always been that he has had a lot of ideas for films with both Mohanlal and Mammootty, but have never thought that those ideas would translate into movies that warranted their superstardom and acting masterclass. But Vineeth now seems to have found one!

As per reports, Nivin Pauly, in a recent interview, revealed that he will be working with friend and director Vineeth in not just one but two films in the coming years. While the first project is obviously that much-anticipated Varshangalkku Shesham that has Hridayam pair Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan, the second movie, it seems will also feature superstar Mohanlal in the lead.

Mohanlal and Nivin had previously teamed up in Rosshan Andrrews’ Kayamkulam Kochunni, which had the former in an extended cameo as Ithikkara Pakki. If the Vineeth film does become a reality, it would be the first time that the duo will be working together in a full-length movie.

Mohanlal had a cameo role in Nivin Pauly’s Premam

Nivin’s comment has further fueled the anticipation for the film at a time when actor Krishna Sankar had revealed that director Alphonse Puthren had initially scripted a character for Mohanlal in Premam. The 2015 release was one of the biggest hits in Nivin’s career and also marked Sai Pallavi’s acting debut in Malayalam.

Krishna had said that Alphonse had conceived the character of a priest for Mohanlal in the movie, but decided to shelve it after it didn’t fit into the movie’s narrative. The role was supposed to be a cameo. Alphonse has recently expressed interest in teaming up with Mohanlal for a full-length ‘mass’ film.
