Mohanlal says Chatha Pacha features ‘my close friend’, throws his weight behind upcoming Malayalam movie

The Malayalam movie, Chatha Pacha, helmed by debutante director Adhvaith Nayar, got a major boost on Monday with none other than superstar Mohanlal throwing his weight behind the upcoming movie. In a special promo video shared by the team, the Drishyam 3 actor was seen endorsing the movie, which he said features his close friend (megastar Mammootty in a cameo).

Is Mohanlal in Chatha Pacha?

Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies is an upcoming Malayalam movie, which stars young actors Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath. Veteran Malayalam megastar Mammootty will also make a cameo appearance in the upcoming film, as Walter, but Mohanlal is not part of the movie, as per reports. The advance bookings for Chatha Pacha have started with none other than Mohanlal booking the first ticket. The makers shared a special promo video which features Mohanlal along with director Adhvaith Nayar, who is also the superstar’s nephew.

“The movie Chatha Pacha is releasing worldwide on January 22. I am also there with this team, and my close friend is in too. That's why the first ticket of this film will be booked by me,” Mohanlal said. The video ends with the message that advance bookings in Kerala are open now.

What did Chatha Pacha director say about Mohanlal

During a recent interview with Mathrubhumi, Chatha Pacha director Adhvaith Nayar was asked about why Mohanlal was not cast in the WWE-inspired movie despite him being a wrestling champ. 

The debutante director replied that Mohanlal is not just his uncle, but his guru as well. “He was so happy to see the teaser. He is very sweet but when it comes to work, he is a task master and you have to deliver on quality, you should have clarity. I hope someday I have the opportunity and the honour of working with him,” he told the Malayalam news channel.
