Monster, which also has Lakshmi Manchu and Honey Rose in pivotal roles, released in theatres last month

Mohanlal’s latest collaboration with director Vysakh, Monster, is all set to drop on a leading streaming platform soon. The movie, which also has Honey Rose, Sudev Nair and Lakshmi Manchu, was shot right after the second lockdown and was initially meant to be a direct-to-OTT release. However, the makers felt the movie will enough legs for a theatrical run too and had released in theatres last month.
While Monster had a dismal box office run, the thriller, which is scripted by Udaykrishna, is now set to drop on Disney+ Hotstar on December 2. The movie revolves around an entrepreneur named Lucky Singh who arrives in Kerala from Punjab to seal a land deal. During the course of a day, he is chauffeured around by Bhamini (Honey Rose) and barges into her family’s life during her wedding anniversary. Lucky’s arrival, however, leaves the family with a tragic incident and Bhamini is held responsible for it. Who is Lucky and how does his past connect with that of Bhamini and her family form the plot of the film, which is produced by Aashiravad Cinemas.
The movie marks the third OTT release for a Mohanlal-starrer on Disney+ Hotstar this year, after Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bro Daddy and Jeethu Joseph’s 12th Man. Both movies were also shot during the second lockdown and were direct-to-OTT releases.
Meanwhile, another film that was set to release on a streaming service but has decided to take the theatrical route is Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas’ Alone, which will release in December. The movie is a pandemic thriller that has Mohanlal as the only actor in the film while Prithviraj and Manju Warrier have lent their voice for other characters.
Mohanlal is currently busy with Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, which is being shot in Morocco. The movie will be released in two instalments next year.
