We had earlier reported that the sequel to the devotional drama Mookuthi Amman is in the making. The makers on Thursday officially launched Mookuthi Amman 2, which will witness Nayanthara resuming the titular role. While the first part was helmed by RJ Balaji, director Sundar C will be captaining the sequel. Here is everything you need to know about Mookuthi Amman 2.
Mookuthi Amman 2 launched: Nayanthara and Sundar C team up
Nayanthara starred in the titular role in 2020 Tamil film Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji. Following this, the sequel of the film was launched on Thursday, with the actor resuming the role. Nayanthara will be playing the leading lady in Mookuthi Amman 2.
Nayanthara will be working with filmmaker Sundar C for the first time, and will resume her titular role. Apart from her, Regina Cassandra will also be playing a prominent role, along with Kannada actor Duniya Vijay making his Tamil debut. He will be playing a negative role. Actors Ineya, Abhinaya, Yogi Babu, Singampuli, Myna Nandhini, and others. Nayanthara, who mostly does not participate in public functions of her films, also took part in the Mookuthi Amman 2 launch function.
Vels International will be backing the sequel, with Hiphop Tamizha scoring the music.
Nayanthara has been fasting for a week: Mookuthi Amman 2 producer
Speaking at the event, Ishari Ganesh, who is producing the film, said that Nayanthara has begun fasting for the film a week ago, to play the deity role. The actor had observed a fast for a month when she played the goddess in the first part as well.
“We wanted to make Mookuthi Amman 2 as a pan-Indian film. No amman films had come so far in the last five years. We wanted to bring a director who can helm a franchise, and it is one and only Sundar C. He requested one month of time after we approached him. He came up with the script, and we went ahead with it,” he said.
