A day after director Nagashekar and hero Srinagara Kitty approached the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce with a complaint against Rachita Ram for non-compliance in promoting their film Sanju Weds Geetha 2; yet another filmmaker has emerged on the scene with aanother allegation against the actress. Vijayalakshmi Urs, the writer and producer of the film Uppi Rupee, which had Real Star Upendra in the lead, alleges that her project was stalled after about 35% was shot, owing to Rachita’s non-cooperation.
In a complaint filed with the chamber, Vijayalakshmi alleges that the film, which was being shot largely in Bangkok, remains incomplete, because Rachita failed to honour her commitment and did not make herself available for the schedule, despite repeated attempts by the team to book her flight tickets. Vijayalakshmi says that although Rachita allotted dated for the film, every time her team would book her flight ticket to Bangkok, in the very last moment, she’d ask for it to be pushed to a future date. This happened a few times and, eventually, the film stalled completely.
In this regard, Vijayalakshmi says that she suffered losses to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore and has now requested the chamber to intervene and mediate a solution. The producer has urged the chamber to get Rachita, who is said to have received a Rs 13 lakh advance on her then remuneration of Rs 23 lakh, to complete the film.
Should Rachita refuse to complete the film which has been stalled for 8 years, Vijayalakshmi says that the actress ought to return the advance paid to her. In her complaint, the producer states that Rachita remained unreachable despite multiple attempts to contact her about the film’s status.
As for the issue with Sanju Weds Geetha 2, Rachita was not part of the film’s promotions back in January when it first released, or when it was re-released in early June. The team had tried protecting her when asked by the media about her absence, stating that she would attend major promotional events, but they’ve now backtracked and filed a complaint.
