The Tamil cinema in January saw sudden twists and turns, given Vijay’s Jana Nayagan stood postponed, as Pongal winner became Jiiva’s Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil. While not so many big-ticket films are lined for February 2026 release in big screens, there are definitely some interesting ones. Here are some titles are expected to come in theatres in February 2026.
With Love - February 6
With Love is an upcoming Tamil romantic drama starring director Abishan Jeevinth and Anaswara Rajan in the lead roles. The film is directed by Madhan in his directorial debut. Touted to be a youthful entertainer, which will be refreshing and musically-inclined, the film’s technical crew includes cinematography handled by Shreyaas Krishna, and music scored by Sean Roldan. With Love marks Anaswara’s return to Tamil cinema since the 2022 film Raangi.
Pookie - February 13
Pookie is a romantic drama which is produced by Vijay Antony and stars Ajay Dhishan and RK Dhanush. With a cast including Pandiarajan, Sunil, Lakshmi Manchu, Indumathi Manigandan, Aaditya Kathir, Vivek Prasanna, Black Pandi, Bigg Boss Sathya, MJ Shriram, Radha, Ashwin Ram, Shiyara Sharmi, Priyanka, Pookie is helmed by Ganesh Chandra. Vijay Antony will also work as editor and composer of Pookie.
Seetha Payanam – February 14
Seetha Payanam is directed by Arjun Sarja and stars his daughter Aishwarya along with Niranjan Sudhindra in the lead roles. The star ensemble also includes Dhruva Sarja, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj, Bithiri Sathi, Kovai Sarala, Saran, Siri Hanumanth, Mani Chandana, Sumitra, Sahasra, Dubbing Janaki, Raj Kumar, Naga Mahesh, Posani Krishna Murali, Jabardust Phani, Narra Srinu, Fish Venkat, Mallesh Yadav, Prathibha Prathap, and others. Seetha Payanam is expected to be a romantic drama with journey as a main element.
Thaai Kizhavi - February 20
Thaai Kizhavi is an upcoming drama film starring Radikaa Sarathkumar in the lead role. Expected to be a rural drama about a boisterous, middle-aged woman, Thaai Kizhavi is produced by Sivakarthikeyan. Apart from Radikaa Sarathkumar, the film’s cast also includes Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, Raichal Rabecca and others in supporting roles. It is helmed by Sivakumar Murugesan in his directorial debut.
Jana Nayagan – TBD
As the legal tussle surrounding the censor certificate continues, Jana Nayagan is anticipated for a February release even as the makers have not yet announced anything officially. The Vijay-starrer which is billed to be his last film, is directed by H Vinoth. It features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Menon and others.
