Syed Sohel Ryan a.k.a Sohel rose to prominence with his appearance on Bigg Boss Telugu Season 4 and has gradually tried to cement his presence as a capable actor with a steady flow of films. While he was seen in entertainers like Lucky Lakshman and Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu recently, his latest release is Mr Pregnant, an emotional drama delving into male pregnancy.

Mr Pregnant, despite dealing with a taboo subject, has evoked positive responses from audiences and critics across multiple shows this week. The makers Mic Movies are leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. At a promotional interview, Sohel has raised several eyebrows with his views on re-releases and how it affects the prospects of small-budget films.

“We all come up with the film hoping that audiences will come to the theatres. However, there’s also a fear that the hype, publicity around the re-release in the weekends will eat into our collections,” Sohel said. The actor stated they release the film during weekends when there are no other biggies and the producer invested crores into a project, trusting young actors like him.

Sohel hoped someone could take care of the wellbeing of small films too. “I’m not asking to stop re-releases entirely but I request producers to release them on weekdays. It’s a humble request to not re-release older films during weekends.” He opined common man could afford to watch only one film a week, given the ticket prices and that re-releases wouldn't give a fair chance for their film.

He asked everyone to encourage small films and that he was speaking on behalf of many people, who may not have voiced their concerns fearing a negative reaction from the fraternity. Mr Pregnant, also starring Roopa Koduvayur, Suhasini Maniratnam, was directed by Srinivas Vinjanampati.
