Bigg Boss fame Syed Sohel is a popular name in Telugu cinema and has come up the hard way. He has turned producer with his new film, Bootcut Balaraju, which is all set to hit screens on February 2, 2024. The comedy caper is directed by Sree Koneti and has multiple female leads, including Meghalekha and Siri Hanumanth.

Sohel made headlines when he broke down during the pre-release event of the film and said he had no more money to promote his film and that everyone should encourage him by watching the film on the big screen.

Speaking to us, Sohel reveals why he became a producer in the first place. The young actor goes back in time when the film was halfway through its shoot and the producer backed out as he did not have enough money. Left with no choice, Sohel says, he withdrew all his savings that he had put aside to buy a house, turned producer and wrapped up the film.

Sohel, in an emotional note, says that his father also gave away his retirement money and they went ahead and wrapped up the film. Bootcut Balaraju is the small-town story of a young man who challenges to become a sarpanch in his village. Sohel plays the main lead and he says that the small-town setup, comedy, and emotions in the second half will work in favour of the film.

Sohel became quite popular after his stint in the Bigg Boss house. He had two releases this year: SV Krishna Reddy’s entertainer Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu (Amazon Prime Video) and the critically acclaimed drama Mr Pregnant (aha and Amazon Prime Video). Md. Pasha is bankrolling the film through Global Films and Katha Veruntadhi.

Pandu and Mamidishetty Srinivas are the co-producers. Shyam K Naidu is the cinematographer and Bheems Ceciroleo is the composer. Vijay Vardhan is the editor of the Lucky Media unit, which penned the script. Dubasi Rakesh and Jabardasth Ramprasad wrote the dialogues.

Sohel has gone all out with the film and says my life is at risk with it, and only the success of his film can save his career. Well, we hope that the film turns out to be a hit. Watch this space for more updates on this project.
