Naane Varuvean OTT release date: When and where to watch Dhanush's psychological thriller online

There were multiple reasons for film buffs to pin high hopes on Naane Varuvean. Firstly, the movie marked the reunion of brothers Selvaraghavan and Dhanush after more than a decade's hiatus. Fans of Dhanush were excited when Selva announced that the former is playing a dual role for the first time in the project.

There were unconfirmed reports of the film having a clash with the much-expected Mani Ratnam movie Ponniyin Selvan, but the former hit the screens on September 29, a day before the period film was released. Upon release, Naane Varuvean opened to mixed response, and is considered as the weakest among the Selva-Dhanush combo. 

The makers have now officially come up with an announcement on its OTT release date. The movie will drop on Amazon Prime Video on October 27, before completing a month's run in theatres. Though the digital partner of the project was revealed earlier, fans have been eagerly waiting to know about its OTT premiere date.

Indhuja, Eli AvrRam, Prabhu and Yogi Babu among others play notable roles in the film which is a psychological thriller. Its story revolves around two twin brothers who become separated after an unfortunate incident in their lives.

One of the characters Dhanush played in the movie won unanimous positive responses from moviegoers. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score is another aspect which was appreciated by cinephiles. However, the rushed climax and ineffective latter half let them down.

Naane Varuvean is Dhanush's fourth movie this year and second theatrical outing in 2022. While Maaran and The Gray Man had direct OTT releases, Thiruchitrambalam which hit the screens in August, went on to become a blockbuster.
